About Be BroadbandBe Broadband an independent ISP (internet service provider) was originally developed in October 2004 and launched in 2005. O2 group acquired Be in June 2006. O2 which is part of the British Telecom Group comprises mobile network operators in the UK and Ireland, along with integrated fixed/mobile businesses in Germany and the Czech Republic (Cesky Telecom). O2 is a Telefónica company with more than 35 million customers across Europe. The Company is called Be because they believe that broadband is not just another utility - they believe that the right offering can enrich everyone's life - allowing everyone to Be whatever and whoever they want to Be. Be Broadband’s mission is simple: to provide you with the best Internet service, with the best products, at the best possible price. A bold mission, you may say. But at Be, they strive tirelessly to achieve it. And where possible we prove this through deeds, and not words. The proof? Their first connected customer averaged a record-breaking speed of 18.5 meg. And it doesn't stop there. They are committed to continue delivering on their promise to all their customers: unmetered, unrestricted and unchallenged broadband - at unparalleled value for money. Be’s commitment to its members is evidenced by its indefatigable support. They work round-the-clock to ensure that every query is answered. Every email is read. And that everything humanly possible is done to ensure that every problem is solved. It’s no easy task. The challenges involved when launching with such advanced technology are often impossible to foresee. What matters, they believe, is how these challenges are met. And overcome. Be Broadband internet are one of the few providers supplying options of “Superfast Broadband”. With packages up to 24Mb they offer some of the fastest broadband options in the UK. Naturally not everyone can get be broadband’s Superfast service as it depends on where you are in conjunction to the exchange. To estimate the speed of service you can receive in your area just go to the be broadband site and do a broadband line check. The actual bandwidth that you will receive is based on the following factors: the length of the wire that connects your premises with the BT exchange, the quality of the copper, and environmental issues which include electrical interference and even sometimes bad weather and the distance you live from the exchange. If your line is two kilometres long then you can expect to receive up to 15 megs (dependent on the above circumstances). Your bandwidth will decrease further as line length increases, and we do not offer our service if you are further than 5.5 kilometres from the exchange. While bandwidths are not guaranteed, we do offer the highest bandwidth available using ADSL2+ to your premises. Be pro members will receive a download speed of up to 22 megs, but an upload speed of up to 2.5 megs. Be value members will receive a maximum speed of 8 megs, and a maximum upload speed of 1.3 meg. As Be continues to deliver its unique service across the UK this is, as they say, only the beginning.
